Goal: The terminal goal of the program is to empower neurodivergent youth to develop confidence in their cooking abilities, foster independence, and promote healthy eating habits.

Target Audience: Neurodivergent youth aged 10-19, including individuals with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Anxiety Disorders, and other Developmental or Intellectual Disabilities.

Description: The Junior Chefs Cooking Program is a monthly Therapeutic Recreation initiative tailored for neurodivergent youth aged 10-19. Participants will engage in hands-on cooking experiences, learning culinary skills in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Benefits:

Culinary Skill Development: Participants will learn fundamental cooking techniques and recipes, building a foundation for culinary creativity and experimentation.

Social Interaction: Engage in group cooking activities, promoting teamwork, communication, and socialization skills.

Description: The Creative Breakfast Club offers a unique opportunity for adults (18+) to embrace their creativity, connect with others, and kick-start their day with inspiration and nourishment. Held bi-weekly on Wednesday mornings from 5:30 AM to 7:30 AM at Jess Jones Recreation Therapy in Hyde Park, London, Ontario, this program is designed to provide a refreshing and invigorating start to your day.

Upon arrival, participants are welcomed with a delightful breakfast spread featuring a selection of tea, coffee, juice, and a variety of nutritious breakfast options. As you indulge in a delicious meal, you’ll have the chance to mingle with fellow attendees, fostering new friendships and community connections in a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Following breakfast, our skilled Recreation Therapist will guide you through an open art studio session, where you’ll have the opportunity to explore your creativity through various artistic mediums and techniques. Target Audience: This workshop is open to individuals of all ages and backgrounds who are interested in art therapy and creative expression.

Description: Join us for a therapeutic and creative journey in our DIY Paper Mache Bird Sculpture Workshop. Participants will learn the art of paper mache sculpting while crafting their own unique bird sculpture. This hands-on workshop offers a supportive and inclusive environment for individuals to explore their creativity and express themselves through art.

Description: The Creative Breakfast Club offers a unique opportunity for adults (18+) to embrace their creativity, connect with others, and kick-start their day with inspiration and nourishment. Held bi-weekly on Wednesday mornings from 5:30 AM to 7:30 AM at Jess Jones Recreation Therapy in Hyde Park, London, Ontario, this program is designed to provide a refreshing and invigorating start to your day.

Upon arrival, participants are welcomed with a delightful breakfast spread featuring a selection of tea, coffee, juice, and a variety of nutritious breakfast options. As you indulge in a delicious meal, you’ll have the chance to mingle with fellow attendees, fostering new friendships and community connections in a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Following breakfast, our skilled Recreation Therapist will guide you through an open art studio session, where you’ll have the opportunity to explore your creativity through various artistic mediums and techniques. Following the forest walk, participants will gather for a serene tea ceremony, further deepening their connection with nature and fostering relaxation.

Forest bathing, also known as “Shinrin-yoku,” which translates to “taking in the forest atmosphere,” is a practice that originated in Japan. It involves immersing oneself in the natural environment of a forest to enhance health, wellness, and happiness. The target audience for forest bathing sessions for adults aged 18 and older includes a broad spectrum of individuals seeking various benefits

Goal: The terminal goal of the workshop is to promote emotional well-being, self-awareness, and mindfulness through the practice of junk journaling. Participants will leave with a sense of clarity, renewed energy, and a personalized junk journal to continue their mental wellness journey.

Target Audience: Adults 18+  will undergo a needs assessment to ensure that the content is tailored to their individual needs and preferences. An evaluation will also be conducted at the end of the workshop to gather feedback and assess the effectiveness of the program in meeting participants’ goals.

Description: Join us for an enriching therapeutic recreation workshop, “Spring Cleaning of the Mind – Junk Journaling.” Participants will engage in the creative process of junk journaling to declutter their minds and explore self-expression through art. Led by a skilled recreation therapist, this workshop offers a supportive environment for personal growth and reflection.

The purpose of this workshop is to provide participants with a therapeutic outlet for mental decluttering and self-expression through junk journaling. Participants will have the opportunity to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a safe and creative space.

Goal: The terminal goal of the program is to empower neurodivergent youth to develop confidence in their cooking abilities, foster independence, and promote healthy eating habits.

Target Audience: Neurodivergent youth aged 10-19, including individuals with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Anxiety Disorders, and other Developmental or Intellectual Disabilities.

Description: The Junior Chefs Cooking Program is a monthly Therapeutic Recreation initiative tailored for neurodivergent youth aged 10-19. Participants will engage in hands-on cooking experiences, learning culinary skills in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Benefits:

Culinary Skill Development: Participants will learn fundamental cooking techniques and recipes, building a foundation for culinary creativity and experimentation.

The primary goal of the “Epic Empowerment for Recovery” is to utilize the structured yet flexible framework of a tabletop role-playing game to facilitate personal growth, social skills development, and therapeutic recovery. This session aims to create a supportive environment where youth can engage in role-playing scenarios that help them explore real-life challenges and practice problem-solving in a controlled, creative, and collaborative setting.

Target Audience:

This program is ideal for youth who:

• Might benefit from engaging in structured yet creative social interactions.
• Wish to build social skills.
• Are interested in personal development and self-discovery through interactive and immersive experiences.
• Seeking to enhance communication and teamwork skills, which are often emphasized in role-playing games.
